vicii Documentary: Avicii – I’m Tim

Netflix has officially released the trailer for Avicii – I’m Tim, a deeply moving documentary exploring the life and legacy of the late DJ and producer. Set to premiere on December 31, the film tells the story of Tim Bergling, the Swedish musical prodigy who became Avicii, one of the world’s most beloved artists, before his tragic death in 2018.

A Personal Narrative in Avicii’s Own Words

Directed by Henrik Burman, the documentary features Avicii narrating his own story through recordings, home movies, and private archives. It offers a candid look at his journey from a shy Swedish boy to a global superstar known for hits like Levels, Wake Me Up, and Hey Brother.

Conversations with Avicii’s family, friends, and collaborators—including Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Aloe Blacc—reveal the person behind the stage persona. The film delves into his struggles with anxiety, substance abuse, and the relentless pressures of touring, which were previously touched upon in Måns Mosesson’s biography, Tim – The Official Biography of Avicii.

In journal entries shared in the book, Avicii described his struggles with mental health, writing:
“I had a hard time accepting never drinking again though strongly suggested from all doctors… I was ignorant and naïve, and touring the world, still on the never-ending tour. Those days in hospital were the most anxiety and stress-free days I can remember in the past six years.”

A Tribute to Avicii’s Legacy

The documentary will premiere alongside Avicii – My Last Show, a recording of his final live performance at Ibiza’s Ushaïa, offering fans a chance to relive his electrifying energy on stage.

Through raw, heartfelt storytelling, Avicii – I’m Tim honors the DJ’s life and sheds light on the challenges he faced, leaving audiences with a deeper understanding of the man behind the music.
