Takashi Murakami Launches Ohana Hatake: A New Footwear Brand Blending Art and Culture
Renowned artist Takashi Murakami has officially launched Ohana Hatake, his first footwear brand, inspired by his iconic flower motifs. Named from the Japanese phrase for “field of flowers,” Ohana Hatake brings Murakami’s vibrant creativity into fashion footwear, marking a fresh venture in collaboration with footwear experts at VIOLET ST.
The debut includes two standout models: new colorways for the popular Ohana Full-Bloom slides, previously released in collaboration with BLACKPINK, now available in “Apricot” and “Raspberry Rose” hues. Additionally, Ohana Hatake introduces the Surippa Ohana, with its first iteration set to launch in a warm “Rust” colorway later this year. The limited-edition colorways for the slides will be available via raffle on the brand’s website.
Reflecting on the launch, Murakami shared, “I am pursuing an expression that explores the relationship between American and Japanese cultures. I would love it if those who wear these sandals could feel the creativity that emerged from my offbeat ideas.”
