Jennifer Lopez and Maná to Headline Kamala Harris Rally in Las Vegas
Jennifer Lopez and Maná are slated to join Vice President Kamala Harris at a rally and concert in Las Vegas on Thursday, October 31. Lopez will deliver a speech endorsing Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, while the iconic Mexican rock band will perform. The event is part of the “When We Vote We Win” series, designed to encourage voter turnout, particularly among young and nontraditional voters, as early voting wraps up in Nevada on Friday, November 1.
Mobilizing Voter Engagement
The Harris/Walz campaign emphasized the influential role that artists like Lopez and Maná play in reaching millions of Americans through music, social media, and public engagement. The campaign hopes that their presence will amplify the importance of voting, particularly in the context of this election cycle.
Jennifer Lopez has been vocal about her support for Harris, recently amplifying the vice president’s message about her commitment to Puerto Rico. This came after a racist joke made by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe at a Donald Trump rally, in which he referred to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of garbage.” Lopez highlighted Harris' stance on Puerto Rican issues through a video shared on her Instagram Stories.
Maná’s Continued Advocacy
Maná has long supported Democratic causes, especially those tied to immigration reform and Latino rights. The band has been outspoken against former President Donald Trump, criticizing his comments about Mexicans and the broader Latin community. Following the 2020 presidential election, the band praised President Joe Biden’s victory, tweeting, “Values won over perversity. There’s unity in diversity.”
Last month, Maná further demonstrated its stance by removing its 2016 collaboration with Nicky Jam, De Pies a Cabeza, from music streaming platforms, citing Jam’s endorsement of Trump. "Maná doesn’t work with racists," the band wrote on Instagram, emphasizing its long-standing defense of Latino rights.
Pushing for Early Voting
As Lopez and Maná bring their star power to the Las Vegas rally, the Harris/Walz campaign aims to boost early voter turnout in Nevada. The event serves as a crucial moment to engage communities that are often underrepresented in elections, reinforcing the message that “when we vote, we win.”
