Beyoncé Launches SirDavis Whisky: A Tribute to Family and Texas Roots

The BeyHive is abuzz with excitement following Beyoncé's latest announcement: the launch of her own spirits brand, SirDavis Whisky. On August 20, the iconic singer, known for hits like "Cowboy Carter" and "Freedom," revealed her venture into the liquor industry, marking a new chapter in her illustrious career.

At 42, the 32-time Grammy Award winner has teamed up with Moët Hennessy to create SirDavis, an American whisky that blends her deep love for Japanese whisky with a tribute to her Texas heritage and family legacy. The whisky’s name honors her great-grandfather, Davis Hogue, a farmer and moonshiner who discreetly stashed whisky bottles in cedar trees during Prohibition for friends and family.

“When I discovered that my great-grandfather had been a moonshine man, it felt like my love for whisky was fated,” Beyoncé shared in a statement. “SirDavis is a way for me to pay homage to him, uniting us through a new shared legacy.”

SirDavis is crafted with care, featuring a mash bill of 51% rye and 49% malted barley, aged in oak barrels and sherry casks. The result is a whisky with a texture reminiscent of Japanese and Scotch whiskies, enriched by the bold, deep flavors of American rye. Tasting notes include warm spices like clove, cinnamon, and ginger, complemented by zesty orange and a smooth honey finish.

The whisky’s packaging also nods to Beyoncé’s Texan roots, with a bottle designed from ribbed glass that catches the light beautifully. At its center is a bronze-colored medallion featuring a horse, symbolizing strength and a connection to Texas. Fittingly, SirDavis is blended and bottled in Texas.

SirDavis has already made a mark in the spirits world, earning the Best In Class award for American Whiskey at the 2023 SIP Awards. Priced at $89, it is available for preorder on SirDavis.com and will hit retailers across the U.S. in September.
