LA28 continues to shape its masterplan with the latest venue updates, aligning with Olympic Agenda 2020 recommendations to leverage existing infrastructure and minimize temporary construction. “The 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games will reflect all that the Los Angeles area has to offer, and with these venue assignments, we’re very proud to bring the Games to many of our vibrant and diverse communities,” said LA28 Chief Athlete Officer Janet Evans.

Olympic Sports in the Heart of LA

Los Angeles will host 10 Olympic sports, including diving, athletics, and gymnastics. The latest additions include badminton at the University of Southern California (USC) Sports Center. The Los Angeles Convention Center, previously used as the Main Press Centre in 1984, will host fencing, judo, table tennis, taekwondo, and wrestling. Weightlifting will be held at the Los Angeles Theater.

World-Class Venues in Carson

In Carson, the LA Galaxy football team's complex will host track cycling, hockey, rugby sevens, and tennis. The velodrome, refurbished since the 1984 Olympics, remains an official US Olympic training site. The tennis venue is the home of the US Tennis Association’s high-performance training center. Rugby sevens will take place in the same stadium that hosts the World Rugby Sevens Series, and the adjacent fields will transform into a top-tier hockey venue with the latest artificial turf technologies.

Long Beach to Welcome a Diverse Mix of Sports

Long Beach, with its rich Olympic history, will host several water-based sports. Marine Stadium will feature rowing and canoe sprint events, having previously hosted rowing in 1932. Sailing will occur along Belmont Shore, while marathon swimming and triathlon will be on Alamitos Beach. The Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center will host water polo and artistic swimming, with handball in the complex's sports arena.

Evolving the Venue Masterplan

This announcement includes venues from the original 2017 candidature plan and new additions. Venue assignments were assessed with International Federations and approved by the IOC Executive Board, following agreements with Carson and Long Beach. Additional venue assignments in Los Angeles and elsewhere, including new sports, will be announced in the coming months.

The Olympic Games LA28 will occur from July 14 to 30, 2028, followed by the Paralympic Games from August 15 to 27. For more information, visit la28.org.
