Jennifer Lopez Cancels Summer Tour to Spend Time with Family
Jennifer Lopez has canceled her much-anticipated "This is Me ... Live" tour before it even started.
The multi-talented singer and actress decided to cancel her 2024 summer tour to focus on her children, family, and close friends, as announced by Live Nation on Friday.
"I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down," Lopez conveyed in her OntheJLo newsletter to her fans. "Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time…"
This cancellation follows earlier reports of sluggish ticket sales for the tour, which was initially announced in February to promote her "This is Me ... Now" album and film. After some cancellations in March and a rebranding in April as a greatest hits tour, ticket sales had begun to rise. Despite this, sources close to Lopez confirmed that ticket sales were not the reason behind her decision to cancel the tour.
The announcement comes amid rampant speculation about Lopez's personal life, particularly her marriage to Oscar-winning actor Ben Affleck. The couple, who married in 2022 after rekindling their early 2000s romance, are rumored to be experiencing marital difficulties and possibly living apart. Neither Lopez nor Affleck has publicly addressed these rumors, although Lopez did reprimand a reporter for asking about her marriage during the promotion of her Netflix film "Atlas."
Live Nation stated that ticket holders who bought their tickets through Ticketmaster would receive automatic refunds. Those who purchased tickets through third-party resale sites should contact the point of purchase for further details.
